Project Management Controls

The Project Manager (PM) must ensure adherence to the project scope-of-work, the budget and schedule if a project is going to be completed as designed, on time and within the money allocated. This is only really possible if the PM follows a rigorous project management system. Such a system includes a daily field occurrence diary, regular client meetings regarding progress, client meeting notes issued, a formal change order process that is written and signed before any work is undertaken that was not included in the original scope-of-work, detailed line-by-line job cost tracking, timely accurate invoicing, timely payments to subcontractors, detailed quality control checklists and monitoring of suppliers and subcontractor insurance status. Gilmore Building Co. follows such a system for all its projects.
