Since its inception 15 years ago, Gilmore Building Company's ("GBCo") focus has been to combine artful design with innovation in home building. GBCo has worked to enhance the project visions of its clients through the application of classic design principles, Innovative Building Technologies, and the most current Building Science Principles. Our design team's philosophy drives it to determine how to best use these technologies and principles to complete construction faster, for less cost, and produce a low energy living space.
By selecting your category of interest below and clicking on an image, you will be shown examples of its project. The two categories presented are new homes including the New Old Home, and add-ons including additions, garages, workshops, barns and carriage houses.
The concept of a New Old Home means a new, efficient construction home that is inspired by traditional New England architecture. From the curb, it looks like it was built 200 years ago on Main Street in New England. Traditional New England architecture is unique and the affection for it enduring.
Our clients have worked with us to design and build projects that change an existing home to serve many purposes including a kitchen upgrade, creating a master bedroom suite, re-arranging existing space to create an in-law apartment, finishing a basement, and generally adding more living activity space to their homes. These activities are often housed in 1 or 2-story addition to the main home, 3-season porches, barn / workshops that become wine-making / retail shop or space for working on a hobby or a place to house an antique car collection, or garages for the family car.
