Homeowners seeking to build a new home have images in their minds of the home they have always wanted. The owners of the home shown in the photo to the right had a vision. They wanted to create a traditional architectural style schoolhouse for a New England country setting. They sought out a trusted builder and designer for this task. They asked Gilmore Building Co to work with them to make the home a reality.
As wonderfully creative and forward looking people, the homeowners purchased an existing home that was located on many beautiful acres of land in a rural Central MA Town of Upton. Because the existing home was very small and so neglected, the property was purchased with the idea that the home would be torn down and a new one built next to it. The vision for the replacement home was to have it look like an old New England schoolhouse complete with a bell tower.
Gilmore Building Co. utilized its New Old Home design concept and collaborated on the design so the new home would look old but be efficient and open to accommodate a young family’s life style. The home was built with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a very large 3rd floor music room / music studio for this family of musicians.
Also noteworthy is the way the home was built. To maximize the building value under a conservative budget, a hybrid approach was used that combined factory-built components with traditional stick-building. See the photo of a section of the home being lowered into place.
Owner Review / Testimonial:
“Gilmore Building Co. provided us with an excellent final product with support all the way from the planning phase to project completion. We feel that Eric Gilmore made this project happen when no other builder would have (including recommendations for financing, careful planning and patience with our timeline). Eric listened to our vision and implemented it keeping scope and budget in balance.”
