The Liberty Wood - New-Old Home

Greek Revival Style

The Liberty Wood is a new old home that was designed and built by Gilmore Building Company, Inc.  This design is one of the many traditional New England style homes built by Gilmore Building Co. in Central MA in the Town of Grafton.

Its design was inspired by and is therefore, reminiscent of the romantic houses found during the early to mid 19th century.  The new old homes style means it looks 200 years old from the curb but it is fully modern inside complete with all the conveniences need by a family today.  Unlike the old homes that were built 200 years ago, a new old home looks just as old but its new construction means it requires low energy consumption and has none of the typical old home maintenance.

The Liberty Wood is a Greek Revival style new old house reminiscent of the Romantic Houses created during much of the early to mid 19th century.  This home can be further classified as a "Gable Front and Wing".  The wings were usually lower than the main gabled section of the home.  This traditional architecture style was very popular throughout New England during 1825 - 1860.  Some of the details common to this style are wide friezes, emphasized cornice lines, ornate entry doors, and classic Greek columns.
