high performing low energy consuming Building

Gilmore Building Company, Inc. worked with the architectural firm, SMOOK Architecture, and multiple engineers, and the Owner to produce a Main Street Westborough building that is energy efficient and beautiful.  The following sub-systems were used in combination on this build: pre-cast concrete foundation system that came fully insulated, and was installed in under 2 days, structural insulated panels (SIPS) for the walls, composite exterior trim, high quality windows, and cement board siding limit the amount of upkeep required, a hybrid heat pump and propane system was selected to heat and cool the building, and a large solar array was installed on the roof to handle the building's power requirements.  This system allows  the owner to utilize excess power credits on other accounts within the N Grid system.  In the end, the building showcases how beautiful architectural design and new building technology can be meshed to create a stunningly elegant, but extremely energy efficient building.
